Hello And Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my Blog! I'm Sean. A brief introduction: I live on the edge of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria UK, and have done so all my life. It's a truly gorgeous part of the world. I was born 968 years into the second millennium of the anno Domini, which coincidentally was also the Year of the Monkey (appropriate, I know). I'll be using this blog to share my hobby of photography, but other items may be thrown in too. My camera is the Canon 6D Mark ii. Mostly, I use a 50mm lens. As well as my photography, I enjoy walking and running. I also author a local news website as a hobby. I've opted for an uncluttered design to deliver this vanity project of mine, which should help when browsing on a mobile device. To assist with speed, there is also a little magic thrown in at the backend, so hopefully what you'll see is a relatively quick website. Anyhoo... Devoke Water

Devoke Water is the largest tarn (small lake) in the Lake District. It lies on Birker Fell, at an altitude of 770 feet (223 m). It has a depth of 46 ft (14 m). The tarn can be reached via a bridle track. At the tarn, you'll find a two-storey stone boathouse-cum-refuge and a ruined stable. The tarn is pronounced Duvvock by locals. It's a lovely place to while away an hour or two - when the weather is favourable. BUY THIS PHOTO

River Liza

This is a shot of the River Liza. The image is in the Aerochrome style. The river flows through Ennerdale, a glacial valley in West Cumbria. The river is allowed to flow freely as part of a rewilding project. The Liza flows from its source below Windy Gap on Great Gable through a steep-sided valley to Ennerdale Water. The river's catchment is in the Lake District National Park. The name of the Liza derives from the Old Norse, meaning of "light (or shining) river".
